FREMONT, CA: Despite the detrimental effects of technology on the atmosphere, a recent increase in global awareness about climate change has prompted emerging environmental technology advancement. This is aimed at resolving some of the more pressing environmental issues that we face as a nation by shifting to a more sustainable, low-carbon economy. Environmental technology, also known as green or clean technology, refers to the implementation of new technologies to conserve, monitor, or reduce technology's negative impact on the environment and resource consumption.

Renewable Energy

Renewable energy, also known as clean energy, is energy derived from naturally replenished renewable resources like sunlight, wind, rain, waves, tides, and geothermal heat. Through devices such as water turbines, solar panels, and modern environmental technology, one can harness this naturally occurring energy and turn it into electricity or usable heat, demonstrating a strongly beneficial effect of technology on the environment.

Smart Technology

Smart home technology employs technologies such as connecting sensors and other Internet of Things (IoT)-connected appliances that can be remotely controlled and designed to be as energy-efficient as possible while still responding to the consumers' needs. Increased internet access due to the increased proliferation of WiFi, Bluetooth, and smart sensors in buildings and towns has facilitated this environmental technology. Experts expect that future cities will be locations where any vehicle, phone, air conditioner, light, and other device is associated, resulting in the idea of energy-efficient smart cities.

Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles have a beneficial environmental influence because they do not emit carbon dioxide, contributing to the so-called greenhouse effect that causes global warming. They are also safer and less detrimental to human health, animals, plants, and water because they do not contribute to air pollution. Several environmental energy government programs, such as tax credits and discounts, have recently been introduced to promote electric cars' introduction and adoption. Electric vehicles could be the path ahead for a greener world, and evidence suggests that they may become less expensive than petrol vehicles by 2024.
